Conversion of Capt. Les Eldridge to Offshore Wind Farm Crew Transfer Vessel
In response to the rising demand for renewable energy, CLT Marine’s former charter fishing vessel, the Capt. Les Eldridge, has been successfully converted into a crew transfer vessel (CTV) by Hornblower Marine. This transformation is a testament to Hornblower Marine’s commitment to supporting the renewable energy sector and showcases the ability to adapt vessels for specialized roles in offshore wind turbine installations.
Project Overview
The aluminum catamaran Capt. Les Eldridge, originally serving as a charter fishing vessel, underwent significant upgrades to meet the operational needs of an offshore wind farm crew transfer vessel. The modifications were performed on-site in Bridgeport, CT by the experienced team at Hornblower Marine.

BOW CONVERSION AND SAFETY UPGRADES

UPPER DECK AND PILOT HOUSE MODIFICATIONS
The upper deck modifications increase cargo storage capacity, while the installation of larger pilot house windows provides a complete view of technician transfers at the bow, enhancing operational oversight and safety.

The vessel’s modifications allow it to transport up to 26 passengers and carry a deck cargo capacity of 1000 lbs., accommodating the needs of crew and equipment transfers efficiently.
