OUR PROJECTS
NYC Ferry Fleet
For NYC Ferry Hornblower managed and assumed the responsibility of designing, financing, building, obtaining regulatory approvals, delivering, commissioning, and now operating and maintaining this massive aluminum hull ferry fleet.
At one point during the construction of this fleet, Hornblower was managing the construction of four (4) different NYC Ferry vessel designs at six (6) shipyards simultaneously. The efforts of Hornblower’s vessel construction management team resulted in delivery of about 1 vessel per forty-five days for a total public-private-partnership vessel construction value of $240 million dollars.
WINDEA CTV Fleet
Formed as a joint venture between Hornblower Group and MidOcean Wind, WINDEA CTV LLC is a full turn-key provider and operator of newbuild crew transfer vessels (CTV’s) for the US offshore wind (OSW) industry.
Hornblower Marine is currently managing the design and construction of five (5) BV-class USCG Subchapter L CTV’s being built concurrently at 3 different shipyards. Hornblower Group will provide the crew to operate the CTV’s and will be the primary service provider for maintenance and repairs of the vessels.
Sea Change Zero Emissions Hydrogen Passenger Ferry
Led the construction management of the completion of the world’s first gaseous hydrogen fuel cell passenger ferry. Directly involved with the systems design and integration of the systems, as well as being a major contributor to the final USCG design approvals.
Hornblower Simplicity
Hornblower’s first in-house total vessel design developed in conjunction with Dejong & Lebet naval architects. Successfully built as a proof-of-concept of significantly simplifying the design and construction of a typical Subchapter T passenger ferry with an emphasis on modular components, friction-stir welded panels, pontoon hulls, and the first application of diesel outboard motors for a passenger ferry application. The vessel is currently in revenue service in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
